Our brief was to find a new permanent Buyer but within a very short time frame. On the face of it, a straightforward assignment, but the client was looking for a candidate with automotive experience to work in a location where there was no automotive industry presence.
Our operational sector knowledge enabled us to undertake a far more focussed and targeted search and we quickly found just the right candidate, the challenge being that the candidate was based on the South coast, roughly 300 miles away from the client’s site. How could we reassure the client and candidate that this was the right move for both?
Not only did we have the geographical challenge, but the candidate had stated that they were not in a position to fund any relocation costs upfront. There was no doubt that we would need to devote extra time to coordinating interviews and we would need to undertake some complex conversations around securing the right remuneration (and add on incentives) package and the payment of relocation costs.
After a week of detailed negotiating, we were able to agree an overall package that satisfied both parties.
