With the increase in demand for renewable energy, Vestas needed to increase their output. Jigsaw were asked to provide quality management support to the OEM and supply chain to facilitate a 10 fold increase in capacity in the manufacture of wind turbine components and a ‘safe’ launch. The scale of the project required a significant number of engineers and managers to be sourced in only a few days to keep the project on schedule. Using our network of highly skilled professionals we were able to source a team who were ready and able to take on the project.
Many of the facilities supported were not statistically stable so the team needed the skills to stabilise the process before ongoing controls could be introduced.
The project covered blade and hub manufacture and generator assembly – the brief was to deliver a ‘safe launch’ of a new design off-shore turbine which required process controls to be introduced throughout the value chain. The project was delivered to the requested project scope and was used as an exemplar by Vestas spanning 20 months and involving 24 team members. Subsequently, similar work has been requested by Vestas personnel moving to Siemens, AH-Industries and Pandora.Back to all case studies
