Job Overview:

Metal polishing Is a highly skilled and unique role, which is key providing the excellent quality expected of our Client’s products.  Training will be carried out using hand and powered tools and the application will change depending on which of their hundred of components you are working on. Attention to detail is key for this role, as the product you are finishing will be installed to high end residential properties across the world.

Training will include the operation of polishing and linishing machines, including set up. There will also be a general engineering input to the apprenticeship when required, which will include working on a lathe and mill and carrying out some product assembly.

The job role involves long periods of being on your feet and getting your hands dirty. You will be enthusiastic about the engineering industry and hand-crafted products, with the ability to think for yourself and problem solve. You will have good communication skills, be self-motivated and willing to learn.


  • Observation of strict Health & Safety rules at all times
  • Finish the surface of a metal product (predominantly Brass) to specified finish, using hand tools and powered tools
  • Clean and maintain work area and equipment
  • Quality control parts before they are handed on
  • Apply protective wax coating to parts
  • Use the electro plating plant to apply nickel and chrome finishes

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Some experience of metal polishing would be useful
  • Some experience of Electro plating would be useful
  • Attention to detail
  • Humility
  • Understanding of Health & Safety
  • Dexterity – for working with small parts
  • Enjoy working with their hands
  • Happy to work on repetitive tasks
