Job Overview:

The Principal Engineer will bring extensive expertise and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in their field, taking ownership of technology strategy and execution across a wide range of applications within the Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear domain. Their primary focus will be on Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Systems, where they will drive innovation and excellence in design, development, and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical lead for complex technology and product realisation programs/projects.
  • Lead the development of and owns strategies for technology roadmaps and product architectures for broad applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall business strategies.
  • Set IP strategy with business unit stakeholders and actively contributes to IP generation.
  • Define requirements and assist in executing project aspects involving multiple stakeholders from technology investigation, system specification, test plan & execution, modelling & simulation, component selection, system packaging & thermal analysis, printed circuit board schematics & layout for programs, algorithm development using MBD involving multiple components and systems of high complexity.
  • Collaborate with lab support personnel in the execution of complex system tests at low and medium voltage.

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ experience within the HV or MV Switchgear domain with experience in development of system architecture, component specifications and design of Gas Insulated Switchgear systems.
  • A collaborative mindset, adept at thriving in global team settings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of switchgear systems, recognizing their impact on overall performance. Proficient in leveraging available technologies and conducting trade-off analyses to develop designs that meet performance criteria while aligning with cost objectives.
