Production Control & Supply Chain Management

This is a unique opportunity to work for an iconic British motor company that is both manufacturer and retailer, and a world leader in amateur motorsport racing.

The Role

A position has arisen within the production control department for a supply chain professional to lead

  • Production Scheduling
  • Requirement planning
  • Parts scheduling and expediting
  • Shortages management and reporting
  • Suppliers management and problems resolution

The key requirement is to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering the continuity of supply, quality, cost and delivery.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills built upon relationships with existing suppliers to ensure the supply base delivers the highest quality product at a competitive cost on time in full.

The candidate must possess the following Technical capabilities and be able to demonstrate experience of problem resolution, corrective action planning and conflict resolution relating to achieving the QCD targets associated with parts supply & control with additional experience in specifying, sourcing and negotiating new supply contracts.

Based in Dartford, Kent; the position may also be required to travel in the UK and potentially overseas, to work with existing and potential new suppliers.

Our client is a small team of dedicated staff. The successful applicant will need to be able to work well within a tight team and under pressure to achieve with limited additional resources

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Production Scheduling
  • Requirement planning
  • Parts scheduling and expediting
  • Shortages management and reporting
  • Suppliers management and problems resolution
  • Supplier performance measurement QCD
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep good / open communications
  • Work closely with Suppliers & Company Stakeholders to deliver supply Chain opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Specifying , sourcing and negotiating new supply contracts
  • Negotiate existing contracts to achieve improved CQD
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience of working in production control preferably within an automotive assembly or manufacturing environment with JIT / JIS supply chain elements.
  • Good knowledge of Production planning, Logistics, Supply Chain management
  • Executed purchasing negotiations and commercial activities at arms length with Suppliers
  • Have excellent analytical data skills relating to planning and scheduling
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of ERP systems
  • Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills/abilities
  • Ability to read and understand engineering/manufacturing drawings preferable
  • An understanding of automotive processes and components
  • Have a good understanding of TCM and cost breakdown.
  • Clear Understanding of Vendor Managed Inventory
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Preferred but not essential APICS-CPIM diploma – Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards APICS-CPIM or CIPS qualification would be beneficial but not essential.
