Driving Change : Delivering Results

Tactical Buyer

About the team

You will work within the Supply Chain of the Naval organization. The Supply Chain Management department is responsible for the End-to-End management of the internal and external Supply Chain, with the Tactical Buying department mainly responsible for the availability of the components for the Final Assembly but also working intensively with Procurement to get the best out of our suppliers.

About your future job

Your week starts with looking at the new order requests from planning. Together with some of your colleagues you prepare the week. What is our workload this week, which topics need extra attention, how can we help each other. After lunch there is a stand-up meeting with the whole team and you will also hear from the others how they are doing. The team is ready for kick-off of the week !

You have a meeting with the strategic buyer for your package and together you go through the status of the items that cannot yet be ordered. There are still quotations to be requested, there are technical questions, projects that are lurking, and so on.

On Wednesday, a supplier visit is scheduled to discuss the status of pending orders. You use Wednesday afternoon to update your administration and place new orders.

There will be a phone call from Final Assembly. An item has failed and your knowledge is needed to determine whether the item should be returned to the supplier. At the same time there is a planner at your desk because there is an item that needs to be purchased urgently. You are able to set the right priorities and you know how to hold your own in an organization in which you are expected to work systematically and keep an overview while also being flexible enough to be able to manage ad hoc questions. You work in an environment in which change management prevails, in which you are asked to discover yourself, to take initiative and to dare to tackle.

The main tasks are:

  • placing orders with suppliers in accordance with the ERP planning;
  • the complete order management of the orders placed by you. For example, requesting order confirmations, handling rejected parts and handling incorrect invoices;
  • daily interaction with the supplier and 1st level problem solving;;
  • minimising the risk of delays in deliveries;
  • contributing to obsolescence management as well as applying the export control regulations;
  • Set up and review requests for quotations
  • Share vendor rating & forecast data with supplier and validate it.

Why are you a good match?

We are looking for a new colleague who:

  • has a logistics background and already has some experience with the purchase of mechanical parts
  • has affinity with production processes of mechanical parts and likes to know exactly what he or she buys;
  • preferably in possession of NEVI-1;
  • is strong in communication and knows how to hold its own in a role where the balance must be maintained between maintaining the supplier relationship and preventing delivery delays;
  • is able to recognize improvements in terms of efficiency and effectiveness and likes to pick them up yourself;
  • has good oral and written expression skills in Dutch and English;
  • has experience working with an ERP system (Oracle is an advantage).

What do you get in return?

  • A challenging job in a fun team within our high-tech, innovative working environment. Including all room for own initiative and good ideas.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development within the organization, for example on a technical, commercial or international level.
  • Valuable international collaborations with colleagues from 68 countries.
  • A comfortable workplace in a modern environment, with attention to flexibility and the right work-life balance
  • You can usually work wherever and whenever you want to do your work as well and efficiently as possible. Within the company we implement hybrid working, where you can, for example, work from home two days a week if your role allows it.
  • A good salary, appropriate travel allowance and the possibility to personalize your employment conditions annually: for example, you can exchange days off for internet costs, our bicycle plan, company fitness and moving costs.
  • 40 vacation days per year. Yes, really.
