We are seeking an experienced Interim Maintenance Expert/Manager to support a high-volume die casting automotive facility in Belfast. This is a hands-on, operational role requiring strong technical expertise in PLC systems, industrial robotics, and automated equipment maintenance. The successful candidate will thrive in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment, especially during peak summer months.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the maintenance team in reactive and preventative maintenance tasks across production equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults related to PLC-controlled machinery, robotics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Minimise downtime and ensure equipment reliability to meet production targets.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to implement technical improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and support audit compliance.
- Provide leadership during breakdowns, working under pressure and prioritising safety.
- Evaluate existing maintenance procedures and recommend improvements to maximise operational efficiency.
- Support and mentor junior maintenance staff when required.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Proven maintenance management or expert-level experience in a high-volume automotive or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robotics, and casting equipment.
- Strong understanding of die casting processes and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Able to lead and work independently in a physically demanding setting – must have a high level of physical fitness suitable for long days in hot conditions.
- Excellent fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- IOSH or other health & safety certification is desirable.
- Prior experience in automotive Tier 1/Tier 2 environments is a plus.
