New Product Development (NPD) Quality Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced New Product Development (NPD) Quality Engineer to lead quality activities throughout the product development lifecycle within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programme Management, Suppliers and Customers, you’ll be responsible for ensuring successful product launches by driving quality assurance, process compliance and continuous improvement throughout the APQP lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead quality activities throughout the New Product Development (NPD) and APQP process from initial concept through to full production launch.
Manage PPAP submissions, Safe Launch activities and customer-specific quality requirements.
Drive structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
Identify root causes, implement corrective actions and ensure effective preventative measures are in place.
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer requirements and internal quality standards.
Support design quality, process quality and supplier quality activities to achieve successful zero-defect product launches.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Programme teams to resolve issues and deliver project objectives.
Support the development and implementation of Control Plans, PFMEAs and process improvements.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied to future programmes.
Support customer communication and quality reviews throughout the product development process.

Requirements

Degree qualified in Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience within Automotive Quality, New Product Development or a similar manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge and practical experience of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC and GD&T.
Experience working within IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Strong understanding of automotive product launch processes and quality requirements.
Proven problem-solving experience using 8D, 5 Why and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Strong analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement and defect prevention.
Six Sigma Green Belt qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
