The UK’s employment rate reached the highest it has been in nearly 40 years. Reporting that 76.1% of the population of the UK is in a form of employment, with the unemployment rate sitting at 3.8%. An ONS report shows that the number of those out of work in the UK has fell by 33,000, down to 1.33 million, a figure that has not been matched since 1971.

Jigsaw People see this as a positive effect of the exemplary work conducted recently, assisting in placing specialists within automotive, railway, manufacturing and engineering sectors in both permanent and interim positions. Exemplified in our most recent case study – working with access work platform manufacturers, Snorkel; to find two skilled Territory Managers; within a very short time frame.

Why?

The ONS report has found that the number of women employees rose by 74,000 in the last quarter, while the number of men in work only increased by just 2,000. This is a trend we previously reported on within our specialist sector of manufacturing. View our infographic on the influx of women in STEM for more information.
